Borgo San Daniele Vermouth Agricultural Santòn
Santòn's recipe uses 30 different species of spontaneous medicinal herbs and aromatic spices. The combination and maceration of the herbs are a kind of “magic”, a very subtle balance of flavors that support each other to create an unrepeatable result.
At the base of all vermouths there is always artemisia, a bitter plant (the most bitter plant present in nature, second only to rue) that grows in all the countryside and in Santòn there are three of them.
The absinthe that makes Santòn unique is Artemisia caerulescens (marine wormwood), which grows in the Grado lagoon (GO) and in the local dialect is called Santonego - or Santonico - from which vermouth takes its name. This variety of absinthe has a strong flavor that goes perfectly with the salinity of Istrian Malvasia (less aromatic than the rest of the other Malvasia), making the taste of Santòn different from all the others.
