In 1997 the Tommasi family, by purchasing an estate in Pitigliano (province of Grosseto) a few kilometers from Sovana, Sorano and the Saturnia thermal baths, gave life to the “Tuscany Project”: POGGIO AL TUFO.
The Pitigliano estate extends over 66 hectares of vineyards cultivated on a soil of volcanic origin, rich in tuff. A few years later, the project was further expanded with the acquisition of Tenuta Doganella, 24 hectares completely dedicated to organic cultivation, and of Tenuta di Scansano, 80 hectares in the heart of the Morellino DOCG area.
