Artas - Primitivo Salento IGT Castello Monaci
Artas, Messapian prince who, in 413 BC in the name of an ancient treaty of friendship between Messapia and Athens, provided 150 javelin throwers to support the Athenian expedition to Sicily, in the so-called Peloponnesian war between Sparta and Athens.
Primitivo top of the range, obtained in purity from primitivo grapes, grown in the warm and sunny vineyards around the Castello Monaci cellar, matures 6 months in small oak barrels and 6 months in large barrels.
It is then refined for 6 months in the bottle. It has a bright and intense ruby red color, a well pronounced and complex aroma, with marked hints of wild berries in perfect harmony with sweet balsamic notes and spicy aromas. The flavor is full, warm, soft, very enveloping, with sweet and elegant tannins.
