The name Piani, attributed to the area where this vineyard is located, indicates a part of the hill that is less steep than the average, already historically known for the production of quality Barbera. Generally speaking, the entire Langhe area is characterized by the production of soft and elegant wines.

The particular soil on which this Barbera is planted, however, manages to give a vine rich in color and acidity, but poor in tannins, a fair structural component, which makes it an element of recognition.

Technical notes:

This wine is produced trying to exalt the characteristics of the grape to the maximum: vinosity, complexity and persistence. After a maceration of 15/20 days, depending on the vintage, in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, it is passed directly into wood. It is aged for about 8/9 months in oak barrels (30/40% in partly new barriques and the rest in 50 hectolitre barrels), then it is assembled, bottled and left to rest for about 2 months in the bottle before being placed on sale. The low production yields, the long macerations and the right amount of wood give this wine characteristics of longevity, complexity and importance that have nothing to envy to those of the noble Nebbiolo.

Tasting card:

The color is bright and intense ruby red, the liveliness makes it particularly pleasant and inviting. The very fine olfactory sensations grow slowly, providing first fruity nuances of blackberry and cooked plum and subsequently vinous, of fermentation, typical of Barbera, with the right aromatic contribution of wood. Overall the olfactory fragrance provides a pleasant and tantalizing impression. The flavor and acidic impressions characterize this wine which does not hide its polyphenolic endowment. The good structural breadth makes it particularly interesting and has a persistent aftertaste.
