It is a red wine obtained through an ancient winemaking practice called ripasso. This consists in placing a part of Valpolicella, produced in the previous autumn, on the pomace of Amarone, after the latter has been decanted in March. The grapes used to produce this wine come from vineyards located on the morainic hills of Valpolicella.
