Pletter Lagrein Riserva Trentino DOC Cesconi
Lagrein is a native grape that has always been widespread throughout Trentino Alto Adige, which produces a wine with an almost impenetrable color and violet reflections. It has aromas with notes of small red fruits, flowers, undergrowth and spices. A feature that makes it resemble Syrah from the Rhône Valley, with which it shares family ties.
The first written records that testify to its existence date back to 1097 and concern the harvest notes of the monks of Gries in Bolzano. It is surprising to know that during the peasant wars that involved our region at the beginning of 1500, the rioters led by the South Tyrolean hero Michael Gasmayr claimed, among other things, the right (for us sacrosanct) to drink good Lagrein Dunkel. At the time Lagrein was a wine reserved only for the nobility, while lighter wines based on Schiava were destined for the people.
