Tuscany IGP Solana Castelvecchi
Intense red color, with purple hues. The scent is elegant with persistent mineral, balsamic, floral and fruity notes such as jam and blackberry. The bouquet is completed with spicy and cocoa notes deriving from aging in wood.
In the mouth it is very broad but at the same time supported by a balanced acidity and good flavor, with strong notes of dried plum, vanilla and chocolate. The finish is long and intense, enhancing the soft tannins.
The name of this wine is a tribute to the historic owner of Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi, the Marquis Abelardo Gutierrez de la Solana, who contributed to making this territory famous for the quality of his wine, already appreciated in Italy and abroad for more than one century ago.
Indicated as a meditation wine, perfect in combination with red meats such as braised boar or lasagna with meat sauce, truffle and mushroom cream.
Produced only in the most favorable years, Solana was born in a terroir unique in the world for microclimate and soil characteristics, located at 500-600 meters above sea level, from 50% Sangiovese, 25% Syrah and 25% Merlot grapes obtained from a reproduction through selection massale.
The grapes come from the historic Sangiovese and Merlot vines, which are combined in perfect balance with the most recent Syrah vines, perfectly adapted to this territory. The harvest is manual and takes place during the second half of October.
