Arrocco Albana Passito DOCG Fattoria Zerbina
It is the wine that made us known and that keeps us on the edge with each harvest. The choice to focus on the noble rot pushes us every year to a ruthless selection of the grapes and, when nature is not favorable to us, it forces us to give up. A sacrifice that is rewarded by a wine of structure, character and longevity.
Arrocco albana, harvested late and on several occasions, with an attack of noble rot, plus a small percentage of dried albana in cassetine.
Working with noble rot also means having to accept almost annually that a certain number of batches of wine, despite the effort made, in the end do not have the complexity and richness requirements that Checkmate requires. These batches, already identified at the end of the harvest or during aging, are used in the production of Arrocco. However, unlike Scaccomatto, from some harvests, in order to guarantee the necessary continuity of production, this wine is also produced with a small percentage of grapes dried for a few months in small boxes.
