The winery Ruggeri was founded in 1950 in Valdobbiadene , Treviso. The grapes of the Prosecco Superiore DOCG are traditionally conferred by one hundred growers. Almost all have vineyards in the commune of Valdobbiadene and 25 also have the grapes of the Cartizze. Of particular note are the numerous vineyards of the highest quality included in one of the historical hamlets of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol, always recognized as the apex of the quality of the entire denomination. Ruggeri owns a small vineyard in Cartizze and 20 hectares on the nearby Montello, 12 of which are planted to Pinot Grigio and Glera (traditionally called Prosecco). About a hectare is dedicated to the Recantina, an ancient native vine with red grapes recovered after a long work with the experimental Institute for Viticulture of Conegliano.
