Nacchero Ciliegiolo Toscana IGT Grillesino
The origins of Ciliegiolo are still uncertain: while some argue that it was imported by pilgrims returning from the Sanctuary of Santiago de Compostela in Spain (hence the other name of "Ciliegiolo di Spagna") others believe it to be that "Ciliegiolo dolce ”Described by Soderini in the seventeenth century and therefore of absolutely indigenous origin. Cultivated in Maremma for over 170 years, Ciliegiolo finds its ideal habitat here. The name derives from the word "cherry" but probably the similarity is due more to the shape of the grape (large and very red) than to the hints of cherry which can be found in the wine obtained from them.
Given the low acidity, 100% Ciliegiolo wines are extremely rare in Italy, despite its marked fruit characteristics and high alcohol content: Ciliegiolo del Grillesino reinterprets this variety and makes it a real tribute to fruitiness: easy to drink it is an extremely versatile wine that can also be served chilled to accompany classic summer dishes.
Extremely clear brilliant ruby red. On the palate it is harmonious, rich in hints of ripe cherry and with pleasant notes of small red fruits. Soft and persistent in the mouth, it is a fresh wine, elegant and innovative in its sensations. Medium persistent finish.
