Yoichi Single Malt Japanese whiskey Nikka
This no-age version was released in 2016 as a permanent product that truly captures the authentic style of Yoichi malts, when all age claims have been discontinued. By bottling several malt whiskeys together, this bottling expresses a delicate balance of peat, smoky and fruity aromas.
Yoichi Single Malt is a range of single malt expressions from Yoichi Distillery, Nikka's first distillery built in 1934. Masataka founder Taketsuru chose the town of Yoichi in Hokkaido due to environmental conditions similar to Scotland, where he learned to make whiskey.
Yoichi malts are described as bold and strong with refined peaty and smoky notes brought by traditional direct charcoal distillation. The sea breeze of Ishikari Bay gives the whiskey a brackish note as it matures.
